“All the positive cultural changes in the world are due to Christianity.”

Despite its humble origins, the Church has made more changes on Earth for the good than any other movement or force in history. To get an overview of some of the positive contributions Christianity has made through the centuries,

And the reason why even nonchristians are doing this is because Christianity has so infiltrated the sensibilities of the world that we can’t stand the idea of war.

David: There are other non judeo-christian philosophies that predate christianity that focused on peacemaking.I would argue ‘Humanism’ predates Christianity. Confusius was a humanist. Aristotle could be considered one. 20 century western humanism is just another (re)incarnation so to speak.

Every culture has peacemakers and tyrants and those who twist religious zeal as mandates of heaven/devine right.  even in christianity and judism.

romans were ‘developing’ ‘barbarian cultures’ well before christianity. So were the chinese and the american native cultures. I think it is naive to assume Christianity’s domanance was manifest destiny. It was just the justification for expansion based on survivalism (not current prepper meaning) and greed.

Survivalism is what motivates an individual/tribe/city/nation. That is a core humanistic value.

What Christ argued was giving up your life for others. That is contrary to survivalism and antithetical with manifest destiny.

However I can see from the perspective of a missionary that manifest destiny was a means that would allow for the ability to insert themselves into an otherwise inaccessible location.

REVIEW:

Old Testament use of grace

GRACE

There is no word in Hebrew that can represent all the meanings of charis, and in the Septuagint charis itself is used, practically, only as a translation of the Hebrew chen, “favor,” this restriction of meaning being due to the desire to represent the same Hebrew word by the same Greek word as far as possible. And chen, in turn, is used chiefly only in the phrase “find favor” (Genesis 6:8, etc.), whether the reference is to God or men, and without theological importance. Much nearer Paul’s use of charis is ratson, “acceptance,” in such passages as

racham https://biblehub.com/hebrew/7355.htm

But a mere negative granting of pardon is a most deficient definition of the Old Testament idea of God’s mercy, which delights in conferring positive benefits. The gift to Abraham of the land of Canaan, liberation from Egypt, food in the wilderness, salvation from enemies, deliverance from exile-all of Israel’s history can be felt to be the record of what God did for His people through no duty or compulsion, grateful thanksgiving for such unmerited blessings filling, for instance, much of the Psalter.
